Creating a Personal Identification Number (PIN) with the CRA can save you time, and provide added security when it comes to protecting your personal information.
Using the PIN service
You can now create a PIN for the individual income tax and benefits enquiries lines. Your PIN will quickly confirm your identity when you call the CRA, while keeping your account safe. You can create a PIN in My Account or with the help of one of their agents.
Why create a PIN
Using a PIN provides added security and will reduce your time on the phone as the CRA will be able to confirm your identity before you speak to an agent. With a PIN, it’ll be easier to interact as you won’t have to provide detailed information that you may not have readily available.
